UIDAI lets those who have Aadhaar cardsto change their address without the need for documents. Aadhaar cardholders can modify their address, but only if they could not prove proof of identity.
New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India has temporarily stopped a crucial feature that allows you to modify your Aadhaar card's address with no identity proof.
UIDAI allows cardholders with Aadhaar cards to change their address without any paperwork. Aadhaar cardholders are able to change their address if they accept the authorization by the verifier of their address. An address verifier could be a relative, friend, landlord or family member that will allow the Aadhaar card owner to make use of their address as proof.
UIDAI is now stopping this feature. UIDAI responds to an Aadhaar Card user by tweeting the ability to update the address on Aadhaar Card via Address Validation Letter has been discontinued. UIDAI has requested that the Aadhaar issuer to advise the user to update their address with another authentic PoA document.
Dear Resident: The address Validation Letter service has been discontinued until the end of time. Kindly request your address update using another valid PoA document from the list https://t.co/BeqUA0pkqL
